Frequently Asked Questions

Assistance League®  of Las Vegas – Operation School Bell®  Program

How can I sign my child up for Operation School Bell (OSB) Services?

All requests for OSB Services are made through Clark County School District schools. If your student attends a Title 1 elementary or middle school, parents or guardians may contact their student’s school counselor or administrator to inquire about a field trip to OSB.

Who is eligible to receive OSB Services?

Students attending a Title 1 designated elementary or middle school may qualify to schedule a field trip.  A school staff member must refer the student to their counselor or the OSB Advocate on their campus.

If your school is NOT a Title 1 designated school and you have students that qualify as Title 1 HOPE, please contact Title 1 HOPE for assistance (702) 855-6682.

What if the school counselor is not familiar with OSB?

School counselors requiring information about OSB field trips may contact the Title 1 HOPE at (702) 855-6682.

How often may a student receive OSB Services?

Students attending Title 1 designated elementary and middle schools may attend a field trip to receive OSB clothing once per school year.

When is OSB open?

OSB services begin after the start of the school year and continue through April. OSB services follow the CCSD holiday schedule and are closed over the summer.

Is OSB part of the Clark County School District?

No.  OSB is the largest philanthropic program of Assistance League of Las Vegas, an all-volunteer, non-profit organization.  OSB is funded by corporate and private donations, as well as support from our Assistance League Thrift Shop.

Dressing Students in Need
in Clark County Schools (pre-K-8)

Operation School Bell

Imagine being a student without the clothes to dress appropriately for an ordinary school day. Every year thousands of students in need, pre-K through 8th grade, may not attend school because they simply do not have adequate clothing. Now, imagine what a gift it would be to shop for a week’s worth of new clothing, shoes, and a hygiene kit to keep and enjoy.

Students from the Clark County School District (CCSD) Title 1 designated elementary or middle schools are referred to Operations School Bell by their individual CCSD school counselor or administrator.

While we are happy to know this new clothing increases student incentive for regular school attendance, higher academic performance, and enhanced self-esteem, our true reward comes from their big smiles when they see their new clothing!

Assistance League of Las Vegas’s Operation School Bell program opened its doors on September 26, 1978.  From that opening day, through the 2022-2023 school year, Operation School Bell has clothed over 172,347 students in Clark County.

If you are interested in donating to this program please visit our Donate page.

For additional information about Operation School Bell services, please contact the student’s CCSD school counselor or administrator.

Each student receives: a week’s worth of school clothing, shoes and a hygiene kit.

In 2023-2024, 5,057 students were referred to Assistance League of Las Vegas by the Clark County School District and clothed by Operation School Bell.
