Our chapter participated in National Assistance League’s annual philanthropic program, Legacy of Literacy. The national goal was 500,000 books. Our Chapter collected 5,025 new and gently used books
These books were then distributed to 26 local schools, 2 local libraries and a family center, plus the Apple Valley Professional Firefighters who will use the books in their Secret Santa program. Recipients were invited to a special event to collect their books and enjoy refreshments. We also had a guest speaker who shared her experince in reading and what books mean to her.
