The Assistance League of the Columbia Pacific received an $8,000 check from David and Danene Lethin, owners of the fishing vessel Aleutian Ballad, which was featured on Season 2 of the Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest Catch,” and now operates five months of the year in Ketchikan, Alaska, as a shore excursion, The Bering Sea Crab Fishermen’s Tour.
“We were compelled to choose Assistance League of the Columbia Pacific as our ‘charity of the season’ because of the work the women of Clatsop County do for the children of this great community,” Lethins said. “I grew up in Astoria, and love the small town feel and see firsthand how Assistance League of the Comlumbia Pacific has impacted the kids of this area. When I have the opportunity to work beside great women who truly care for our youth, it humbles me and makes me proud to be involved with such a great organization.”
Assistance League of the Columbia Pacific programs include the Operation School Bell, which provides appropriate clothing to children in need and the Duffle Bag Program, which assists local children as the move from their homes into foster care.
