The fall is a busy time for our committee as we try to keep up with a very demanding schedule. The story about Annie, Ted, and Sam helps so many pre-K and Kindergarten students learn about poisonous substances. Our dolls looked great this year in their Halloween costumes.
In the month of October, we went to 10 elementary schools and preschools. We brought our lesson to 1,371 children and their teachers. These schools are in The Woodlands, Conroe, Willis, Magnolia, and Grangerland (near New Caney).
We also did a basic skills class for some homeless families in the Family Promise program.
As you can imagine, we were running out of the packets that contain coloring books, crayons, Mr. YUK stickers and much more information for the children’s parents. Then five wonderful Exxon-Mobil volunteers offered to come to the shop on Tuesday, October 27, and made 1,070 children’s packets. These ladies worked four hours with only one break. Exxon-Mobil will now give Assistance League a $500 grant for their service.
