Salem-Keizer – To Host Lasagna Luncheon

salemThere was barely an empty seat at Holding Court this week with students, square dancers and service members among the many who showed up to share their news.

The Assistance League of Salem-Keizer was up first, represented by its president Kathy Sansoneand its publicity chairwoman Barbara Folawn. The two shared news about the league’s upcoming 45th annual Lasagna Lunch, a benefit that helps support the league’s programs, which serve the community’s neediest members. Some of the league’s philanthropies include Operation School Bell, the Robertson Fund/Dental Health Solutions and Auxiliary Birthday Bag Project.

This year’s Lasagna Lunch will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10 at the Willamette Heritage Center at the Mill. The luncheon, which will be held in the Spinning Room, features a member’s secret-recipe lasagna (choice of meat or veggie version), a green salad, bread and dessert. For those under deadline pressure or can’t get away for the sit-down fundraiser, the league is for its second year, offering take-out service. And if an office should order 10 or more take-out meals, the league will discount the price.

“The take-out was so successful last year, we’re happy to bring it back,” Sansone said. Area students will also be provided musical, both vocal and instrumental, entertainment throughout the event.

Tickets can be ordered online or purchased at the door for $25 each, $15 of which is tax deductible. Ten take-out meals are $230, so gather up your office mates and convince them to help the community while helping themselves to a hand-made lasagna lunch. All take-out orders will be ready at the mill’s Dye House for added convenience.

Tickets can be bought online at www.als-k.org. They can also be purchased at the Daue House Gift Shop, 1095 Saginaw St. S., Encore Furniture shop, 1198 Commercial St. SE, and at all Salem Roth’s Fresh Markets locations.
