There’s a new eating place in town, and they chose Assistance League of Kansas City to help them with their soft opening. Pepperjax Grill, a casual eating establishment featuring Philly steak sandwiches, gourmet rice bowls, giant stuffed burritos, loaded nachos and fresh salads, opened their first location north of the river, November 17 at Antioch Crossing 5235 N. Antioch Rd Kansas City, Missouri. Kyle White, District Manager for Missouri contacted the Assistance League office after hearing about our organization from fellow District Manager, Forest Savage, who was in charge of researching local non-profit organizations. It is their policy to team with an organization that gives back to the local community when they open new locations. Prior to the day of a soft opening, they pass out VIP admission tickets to local businesses and citizens, inviting them to come enjoy their food. In exchange, they ask the patrons for a donation to the charity that they have selected.
Assistance League of Kansas City was their organization of choice. Karen Mollohan, (joined by Penny Merrill during the lunch session), was there to hand out information and answer any questions. The lunch crowd was brisk, despite the rainy weather. The dinner crowd was even larger! In all, $1064.31 was collected and donated to Assistance League of Kansas City. Please take time to stop by the new Pepperjax Grill and thank them for their generous contribution. But the good news does not stop there.
Thanks to the event, a new contact was made with Ron Nelson, from Multivac, a local industrial equipment supplier. Ron introduced himself to Karen and asked for more information to present to his company’s corporate donation committee, of which he is a member. He had not heard of Assistance League of Kansas City and was very impressed to learn of our involvement in the community. It was great to be a part of Pepperjax Grill’s opening day event. One never knows the impact a single encounter can produce.
