On November 15, Karen Mollohan, Public Relations Chairman, met with a group of girl scouts, parents and leaders at the Administrative Center. The Girl Scout Service Unit 604 was interested in learning about community volunteer opportunities and ways in which they might become involved. These girls are working towards their Silver and/or Gold Badge for Community Service Projects. Mary Reynolds and two of her Assisteens® members, Kelby and Josie Rawlings were on hand to share their experiences as teen volunteers. It was a very informal, yet informational gathering. Karen shared how Assistance League of Kansas City members served the local community through our various programs and the girls asked a broad range of questions wanting to know more. It was very encouraging to be able to speak to this group of girls and see their interest in community service. Helping share how volunteers can make a difference in the lives of those around us and showing young people how stepping up to fill needs in our community that might otherwise not be met is so rewarding. Please give some thought to becoming a part of the Public Relations Committee and see how rewarding it can be.
