On Saturday, March 5, Assistance League of Riverside will celebrate its 50th Anniversary at its annual spring Dress Me Up fashion show, luncheon and silent auction.
Fashions from Chico’s Riverside will be featured at the event, set for the Riverside Convention Center.
The social hour and silent auction will begin at 11:30 a.m. The first silent auction section, which always has popular items, closes at 12:15 p.m. Other sections close at set times, but all will close before 1 p.m. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m., with the program and fashion show. Past presidents of the League will be honored.
Established in 1966, Assistance League of Riverside is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization dedicated to clothing, comforting and educating children. Its philanthropies include Operation School Bell, Operation Snack Attack and Operation College Bound. Its work affects the lives of about 10,000 at-risk children and youth in Riverside and neighboring communities. Men, women and teens contribute more than 40,000 hours of service. The organization spent more than $260,000 last year.
Funds for the League’s work are raised from its Thrift Shop, at 3707 Sunnyside Drive, and by donations from individuals, organizations and corporations, as well as fundraisers including Dress Me Up.
Nancy Franks is president of the League and Bobbi d’Arc is chair of Dress Me Up. Committee members include Michelle Arrigo, Patti Braymer, Roci Candelaria, Sue Davis, Ann Dunbar, Donna Enyeart, Barbara Guerra Cindy Jensen, Beth Kollmyer, Sherry Moon-Marlow, Shirley Nejedley, Lorraine Nygren, Barbara Pfeiffer, Mary Seager, Penny Smith, Jan Walsh and Kathy Wright.
