Brian Copeland

Brian Copeland is an award-winning actor, comedian, author, playwright, television and radio talk show host based in the San Francisco Bay Area. His one-man play, “Not a Genuine Black Man,” went on to become the longest-running solo show in San Francisco theatrical history, recently celebrating its 1,000th performance. His first crime fiction novel, Outraged, was released in 2024.

Donna Levin

Donna Levin is the author of four acclaimed novels and two books on the craft of writing. She has taught fiction writing for 3 decades, most notably at the University of California Extension in Berkeley. Her work is included at Boston University, in the Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Center, and in the California State Library’s collection of California novels. She lives in San Francisco.

Jane Smiley

Jane Smiley is the author of numerous novels, including A Thousand Acres, which was awarded the Pulitzer Prize, and the Last Hundred Years Trilogy: Some Luck, Early Warning, and Golden Age. She is the author of several works of nonfiction and books for young adults. As a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, she has also received the PEN Center USA Lifetime Achievement Award for Literature. She lives in Northern California.

Gail Tsukiyama

Gail Tsukiyama, the author of seven novels, was born in San Francisco to a Chinese mother from Hong Kong and a Japanese father from Hawaii. She was the recipient of the PEN/Oakland Josephine Miles Award for Literary Excellence and was the first author to receive the Asia Pacific Leadership Award from the Center of the Pacific Rim and the Ricci Institute. A resident of the San Francisco Bay area, she has taught at San Francisco State University, University of California, Berkeley, and Mills College.
