Each year, our chapter provides thousands of new, child-safe, cuddly bears to comfort frightened children during crisis situations. Hospitals, law enforcement agencies, fire departments, and other emergency agencies distribute the bears to children in need of comfort during traumatic and stressful circumstances.
It’s very rewarding when we receive feedback from those whose lives we’ve touched through our Bears for Children Program. This heartwarming letter and photo came recently from the mother of a child who received one of our bears while a patient in a local hospital.
“My name is Brittany and my daughter’s name is Eden Grace. She has been hospitalized at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta a few times. One of the last times, she received one of your bears. She was about three years old at the time. She named him Leagus. She has Build-a-Bears but Leagus is her favorite bear and she takes care of him better than all others. I think she loves Leagus because he was given to her unexpectedly at a very difficult time in her life (she’s 5 years old now). I just want to say thank you. Thank you for your gift of comfort. This gift keeps on giving. Leagus is her buddy and sometimes her patient. I am thankful for all you do.”
