Though school has been out for the summer, Assisteens of the Bay Area still have been hard at work.
In addition to volunteering at the Assistance League of the Bay Area’s Resale Shop, helping the League City Animal Shelter, and responding to community service opportunities, Assisteens have contributed significantly to Operation School Bell. Operation School Bell, the chapter’s largest philanthropy, provides clothing, a personal hygiene kit, shoes, and necessary accessories for children and teens who have been identified by school personnel as economically disadvantaged.
Assisteens provide the lion’s share of work as relates to assembling the personal hygiene kits. Over two specific days, several members of the auxiliary worked to prepare over 1500 kits. This philanthropic program, Operation School Bell Support, is managed by the teens.
Assisteens, an all-teen auxiliary of Assistance League of the Bay Area, manages their own philanthropic programs, in addition to partnering with the chapter when needed, and helping out in the community when requested, Operation School Bell Support is one of the five programs they oversee.
