Assistance League® of the Bay Area’s philanthropic program, Ready for Work, provides interview and job-appropriate clothing to clients who are referred to us by our partners.
Ready for Work, initially defined with the clothing and accessory inventory to be selected from our award-winning Resale Shop, expanded last year to serve those who may need items that are not stocked at our shop.
This year, we entered into an agreement with a new partner, Family Promise of Clear Creek. Two weeks ago, members of the committee had the opportunity to assist a gentleman with the selection of interview clothes. It was a fast and efficient process, as, during the visit, he received a call to come within the hour for that interview.
A week later, after successfully hired, he then needed specialized shoes. Those were obtained at Wal-Mart.
This particular example demonstrates the breadth of our program – finding what is needed at the right location.
