Assisteens Collaborate with Chapter and Independently Work to Eliminate Food Scarcity for Families

Microwaveable meals, drinks, and sweet and salty snacks are packaged monthly during the school year and delivered to social workers, who distribute them to students facing food insecurity. In collaboration with the chapter, nine thousand (9,000) meals were assembled and delivered to Deer Park ISD, La Porte ISD, and Texas City ISD through the chapter’s Snack Attack Packs initiative.

Addressing this community concern is part of the auxiliary’s Basic Kneads philanthropic program. Collaborating with the chapter is the largest aspect of the program.

It also includes volunteering with other nonprofits that serve those who need a nutritional boost and donating to pantries that provide this option. Thirty-five (35) Assisteens® donated time or supplies to the Clear Lake Food Pantry or Interfaith Caring Ministries or collaborated with Saint Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church and the Galveston County Food Bank.

Thank you to Karen Taylor, adult liaison, and Anna Lee and Logan Lytle, teen liaisons, for your leadership this year!
