Join us as we celebrate our 30th anniversary as a chapter this year!
On October 5, 1988, Assistance League® of Houston hosted an invitational meeting for residents in the Houston-Galveston Bay Area. Eighty-five individuals attended the meeting and formed Assistance League Auxiliary of the Bay Area.
These charter members sprang into action and launched their first philanthropic project, Operation School Bell®, in January 1989.
In 1992, the auxiliary took the necessary steps to become a chapter.
With the approval of the Houston chapter and Assistance League® board, the Assistance League® of the Bay Area officially chartered on May 19, 1994.
Today, the chapter manages seven philanthropic programs, generates financial resources via an upscale resale shop, highly-anticipated and well-attended annual fundraising event, and receives generous grants.
The Assisteens® auxiliary, one of the largest of the forty across the 120 chapters, boasts a robust membership of 150+ teens, grades 9-12, and in 2000, the chapter was the first to petition the national organization to allow males to join.
We look forward to honoring our legacy, continuing to serve in the present, and planning effectively for the future over these next eight months.
