On March 3, 2021, Assistance League of Bellingham awarded an Above and Beyond the Call of Duty award to long time member Arlene Cano in recognition of her leadership in and dedication to the production of cloth face masks in 2020.

This community outreach program of Assistance League Bellingham was created to respond to urgent requests from health care workers and care centers for protective face masks for their staff and residents. Assistance League of Bellingham produced and distributed over 800 cloth face masks for free to residents of Whatcom County.
