Handmade Lavender Pillows Offer Comfort

Since its inception in 2023, the Therapeutic Lavender Pillows Project, part of the Assistance League of Bend’s Hats & More program, has made a profound impact on the lives of hundreds of cancer patients and seniors. The heartfelt stories and positive feedback we receive remind us of the difference small acts of kindness can make.

One patient shared how the soothing pillow provided not only physical comfort but also a calming presence during his challenging treatment journey. Another recipient, a woman grieving the loss of her husband, found solace in the thoughtful gift, highlighting the emotional support these pillows offer.

Each pillow is crafted with care by dedicated members and volunteers, who lovingly harvest lavender, sew, and fill each casing. The result is a handmade product that delivers warmth, relief, and a sense of calm.

These pillows are distributed to local health facilities, including St. Charles, Summit Health, Partners in Care, Deschutes Family Health, and Heaven Can Wait. If you’re interested in learning more about this meaningful initiative, please reach out to us at programs@assistanceleaguebend.org.

Together, we’re not just making pillows; we’re spreading comfort and hope in our community.
