Assistance League of Bend volunteers loaded 14 cars with complimentary personal care items and delivered them to over 260 Medicaid patients in local long-term care facilities this week as part of their Senior Caring program. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, deodorant, lotion, toothpaste, and other hygiene products are delivered five times a year to 17 facilities throughout Deschutes County including Bend, La Pine, Redmond and Sisters. Kim Cohen, Activity Director at the Regency Redmond facility, said, “We can’t make it without the supplies you give all year round. These people are so thankful for everything.” This month, in addition to the personal care products, Assistance League of Bend delivered over 300 hand-written Valentines to the residents who may be feeling isolated and in need of cheering up in the midst of the pandemic.
