Assistance League of Bend has been making a difference in the lives of children and adults facing hardship in Deschutes County for 30 years! Past presidents, generous supporters and dedicated members gathered on May 2 to celebrate the impact of their work and the volunteers that make it happen. Charter member, Char Weichman, shared the story of how Assistance League of Bend began and expressed her gratitude for the members who have grown the organization into the premier provider of clothing for local children in need. Several members were recognized for their exemplary service including Karen Dieckman who received the Ada Edwards Laughlin Award, Marsha Bechtold who received the Anne Banning Leadership Award, and Deanna Craig who received the President’s Award. Assistance League of Bend also acknowledged their accomplishments for the year and welcomed the new Board who will ensure the dream of making a better life for our neighbors in need, will continue.
