Assistance League of Amador Valley coordinated a fun filled morning for foster kids at The Gathering Place in Pleasanton, courtesy of Stuart Smith, owner of the local Game Truck.
The Gathering Place is a Pleasanton facility where foster children come with their foster parents to interact with their birth parents. These interactions are supervised by The Gathering Place staff. After spending many weeks going through various stages of meetings, the families progress to being able to go on off-site fun adventures.
Assistance League of Amador Valley has been donating take-home reading books for the children and coordinating more off-site fun activities for the children to experience with their birth parents. Linda Scherer, chairman for the Foster Kids program with Assistance League of Amador Valley, came up with the idea of inviting The Game Truck for an on-site experience.
Stuart Smith donated his time and his vehicle to make this happen. The children were able to go inside The Game Truck and play video games along with interactive electronic games.
