Every year the board gets together for a planned “Board Day Away” event. This year the board decided to do a philanthropy project as their board retreat. The board members prepared 50 hot dinners and 50 lunches for the local homeless and needy. The menu for dinner was lasagna, rolls with butter, a salad, and cookies. The lunches included a chicken salad tortilla wrap, bag of chips, fruit cup, granola bar, and cookies. This activity strengthened the board’s bonds by building stronger relationships, better communication skills, improved confidence, trust, and the opportunity to get to know each other better by encouraging collaboration while making a genuine impact. An added benefit? We all had fun! This could not have happened without their endless dedication and hours spent behind the scenes to make our chapter the successful chapter it is.
