Conejo Valley – Supports Manna Food Bank

Jennifer Schwabauer, executive director of Manna, far left, accepts a check from Assistance League of the Conejo Valley members Mari Hill, Priscilla Boone and Marilyn Adam on April 23.

While Assistance League of Conejo Valley has had to temporarily close its Thrift Shop and Donation Center due to the coronavirus, Chapter President Mari Hill isn’t worried about the philanthropic organization’s ability to continue its mission of transforming the lives of children in need. After all, they’ve been at it for nearly 25 years.

The local chapter of a national nonprofit, Assistance League of Conejo Valley provides for the community’s at-risk youths with money raised at its Thousand Oaks thrift shop, as well as through events, grants and programs.

Last year, the chapter’s 127 members and about 50 teen volunteers spent a combined 33,000 hours distributing teddy bears to hospitals, organizing emergency clothing kits for schools, providing vision care to adults, tutoring at-risk students, and providing new apparel to schoolchildren in need.
