PALM DESERT, Calif. – Combat Center new and expectant mothers were treated to a baby shower luncheon from the Assistance League of Palm Springs Desert Area at the Oasis Country Club in Palm Desert, Calif., Feb. 16, 2016.
“We are hosting this luncheon for first-time expectant mothers from the [Combat Center],” said Sally Tilden, president, Assistance League. “We want to honor these young ladies and help them out with baby products they might need.”
The league treated the 19 mothers to lunch and gift baskets filled with baby products such as bibs, blankets, hats and socks, along with an assortment of other baby products.
“It is definitely more than I expected,” said La Trina Waul, an expectant mother in attendance. “I am so overwhelmed with what these ladies did for us and all the gifts they gave us to get started.”
During the luncheon, each mother was seated at a table surrounded by the ladies of the Assistance League who asked questions and gave the mothers parenting tips and advice on the adventure of motherhood that lies ahead.
“Our one-on-one time with the ladies was awesome because they genuinely cared and asked us personal questions. I definitely met some older seasoned girlfriends,” Waul said. “I am very thankful for everything and I’m going to be staying in-touch with these ladies. I plan on sending them a letter to let them know when my baby is here.”
Ending the luncheon, Tilden wished them all the best and as the mothers left the country club, their faces radiated smiles and joy as they prepare to embark on the journey of motherhood that awaits them.
