Assistance League® of Pomona Valley held its 24th annual Vintage Valentine Tea on February 5, 2023, at the Historic Ebell Club in Pomona, CA. The Ebell Club is an historic Craftsman style clubhouse that was built in 1910, and is a fantastic venue for a vintage event. The tea is the first of four primary yearly fundraisers. The event was attended by 143 guests who were served: scones with lemon curd and Devonshire Cream; four types of petite sandwiches; four desserts; fruit; Mimosas; and of course, tea. Over the years, ALPV has acquired many unique vintage cups and saucers that make the servings of tea to each table fun. Guests had their choice of eight flavors of tea. High School volunteers from Joy Optimus Club and Rotary Interact served the guests. Mystery Bags which have been a very popular item over the years, had more value than the guest’s $20.00 expenditure, and some lucky buyers got a greatly valued bag. A silent auction was held for baskets full of wonderfully themed products. Jars of jam, and lemon curd were also offered to procure, and were a big hit. In addition to the auctioned items, ALPV member, Nitzi Barker, will host three personal tea parties for eight guests each at her home and additionally will host two gourmet dinners. ALPV runs Operation School Bell, and a Dental Clinic which provides high quality care to children, and adults and seniors, which the proceeds from this fundraiser help support.
