Assistance League of Riverside this month celebrated the completion of a mural painted by teens in the criminal justice system.
The mural is meant to reflect Assistance League‘s mission of helping young people, while offering a positive outlet for the teenagers who painted it on the organization’s building.
It replaces the plain beige paint that was previously on the side of Assistance League’s headquarters at 3707 Sunnyside Drive.
For 15 weeks this summer, the youths were supervised by an art director as they toured the facility to learn about its programs, design the mural and then paint it. The work was part of the Creative Horizons program run with help from the Riverside County Probation Department, a news release states.
Funding came in part from a Riverside Police Foundation grant.
