The Assistance League of Saddleback Valley has awarded nearly $17,000 in grants to 25 Saddleback Valley Unified School District educators.
The grants were given to teachers who proposed innovative projects.
During the past decade, the women’s organization has awarded more than $160,000 toward updating technology, installing interactive software, buying digital microscopes, expanding library book collections and for projects including building wind turbines and remote-operated, underwater roving vehicles.
This year’s recipients are La Paz Intermediate teachers Sultana Abassy, Boni Beck, Lynn Beukema, Aime Camey, Donna Eaton,Michelle Eichinger, Jennifer Gibbs, Ian Keith, Chris Luker and Marie Whittaker; Los Alisos Intermediate teachers Sean Fletcher, Candy Mack and Marti Wernle; Serrano Intermediate teachers Pam Auer,Jesse Bluma, Holly Danielson, Monica Jung and Darin Petzold; El Toro High teachers Christine Francis, Michelle Naber and Maria Nadal;Laguna Hills High teacher Rebecca Rhode; and Mission Viejo Highteachers Margaret Kozick, Richard Weiss and Jane Zeek.
