Assistance League of San Luis Obispo County has received a $5,184 grant award from The California Dental Association (CDA) Foundation Dental Materials and Supplies Grant program which supports nonprofit organizations with dental supplies and materials necessary for dental operations and oral health services.
The Henry Schein Cares Foundation supplied the requested dental products – toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss and mouthwash. Assistance League applied for these products which will supply its Dental Hygiene Kits sub-program of Operation School Bell for the the next two school years (2019-20 and 2020-21) to 4,600 underserved students. In addition, Rodney S. Hiltbrand, D.D.S., of San Luis Obispo, wrote the required letter from a Health Professional to support Assistance League’s grant application.
Assistance League’s Operation School Bell® program goal is to provide new school clothing to 2,000 disadvantaged students during the next school year. In addition to the new school clothing, each student will also receive the noted Dental Hygiene Kit supplied with the grant products. “Our chapter and its member volunteers are greatly appreciative of the first time, generous support shown by The California Dental Association and The Henry Schein Foundation for its recognition of the important work we are accomplishing to assist families and students within our local communities,” said Sue Pino, chapter president.
