Volunteers from Assistance League of Rancho San Dieguito recently helped provide school clothing to children of enlisted military families. Children went home with hooded sweatshirts (provided by the Rancho San Dieguito chapter), jeans, T-shirts, underwear, socks, shoes, hygiene kits and school supplies. The event, called “Assistance League Operation School Bell Clothing® Children at Camp Pendleton,” was sponsored by seven Asistance League chapters: Rancho San Dieguito, North Coast, Inland North County, Temecula Valley, Capistrano Valley, Saddleback Valley and Laguna Beach. The Rancho San Dieguito chapter also sponsored Operation School Bell at Target in Encinitas. Children chosen by local schools were allotted an amount to spend on clothing, assisted by chapter volunteers. The chapter raises funds for the event through programs such as the Assistance League Thrift Shop in Encinitas, fundraisers, individual and corporate donations, and grants.
