Assistance League of Sonoma County (ALSC) 60th Anniversary
June 17th was a special day at Assistance League of Sonoma County. That Saturday the thrift store celebrated its 60th anniversary! The community was invited to help in the celebration, complete with live harp music (performed by a volunteer’s daughter), cake, cookies, popcorn and other treats along with games and activities for children. Of course, the day included a boutique shopping opportunity with great sales which drew a crowd. The celebration also showcased the philanthropic programs, supported by the Thrift Store, by inviting guests and shoppers to tables staffed by volunteers displaying samples of their good deeds. Photo albums going back to the 60’s—and a slide show of current events—were available for viewing our past and present good times and good deeds. Fashions from over the decades were also displayed! Guests were encouraged to participate in a book drive, as well as sign up for Shop news and information on volunteering opportunities. A good time was had by all, and the community became more aware of Assistance League and good works its thrift store supports.
