Natalie Birthelmer, Community Business Development Manager at Barnes and Noble’s Stevens Creek Blvd. store in San Jose, California, received the National Operation School Bell® Award for her outstanding efforts contributing to the success of Assistance League of Los Gatos – Saratoga’s Literacy Program. She has worked with the chapter since 2013; her interest, passion and knowledge have helped the chapter put hundreds of books into classroom libraries in their community. Natalie has demonstrated how making the chapter’s goal of children reading age appropriate literature and nonfiction that supports the classroom curriculum is attainable. The award was presented to Natalie at the chapter’s May 17, 2017, annual luncheon meeting.
