Operation Check Hunger, an Assistance League of Charlotte philanthropic program, had a very productive year despite a pandemic. During the school year, the program provided funding for food-filled backpacks for children and their families, sponsored mobile pantries with historically high numbers of individuals served and provided assistance for in-school food pantries. After the lockdown associated with COVID-19, Operation Check Hunger continued to provide support to the children of Mecklenburg County Schools with extra funding for backpacks and financial support for mobile pantries even though our volunteers were unable to attend.
