Assistance League of Coppell was pleased to donate $5,000 to Sack Summer Hunger, a program sponsored in Coppell by Metrocrest Services and Coppell Cares. The program distributes easy-to-prepare, kid-friendly meals and snacks to families in Coppell who qualify for free or reduced-rate lunches during the school year. With the spread of COVID-19, the need has been extended to families in need due to loss of employment or reduction of hours. The request for help has increased by almost 200% this year. In addition to the financial contribution, several members and spouses donated their time by delivering food. Sack Summer Hunger delivers weekly to each family a loaf of bread, 10 pounds of fresh fruit and vegetables, and 25 pounds of staples for preparing meals.
