Kansas City – Assisteens Serving Through Action

Assistance League of Kansas City’s dedicated Assisteens volunteers always enjoy serving the local community! The teens recently helped fill 600 backpacks for Operation School Bell AND made comfy blankets for patients at Children’s Mercy Hospital, a local children’s hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Everyone at Assistance League of Kansas City is very proud and appreciative of these outstanding teen volunteers. Help us say thank you…give them a hand!!!

“Your organization always goes above and beyond.” How many times has Assistance League heard that?
That quote was received from a counselor at an elementary school in the Kansas City area after Assistance League of Kansas City member volunteers assembled 3,000 backpacks with seven health kit items (toothpaste, toothbrush, hand sanitizer, packet of five face masks, soap, deodorant and lotion) and a hat/gloves/scarf for 59 elementary schools in the Northland. Our volunteers delivered 50 filled backpacks to each elementary school, and along with the hooded sweatshirts which were shipped straight to the elementary school counselors, the items were distributed by the counselors to the students who needed it the most.

Even though we weren’t able to meet elementary students in person this year, it was a good feeling to know we are making a difference in the lives of students and families. Everyone has been so appreciative.
“Thanks so much for all you do for our kids! You are making a difference and a mark that cannot be erased! The families are in such need for the care and support you all provide. Kellybrook Elementary wants to say a huge THANKS!!!” – school counselor
