Through Assistance League of San Antonio’s Operation School Bell® Program 560 students from Jackson-Keller Elementary School, North East Independent School District, received a brand new pair of shoes along with six pairs of socks on May 16, 2022. Member volunteers fitted the children with the new shoes and were rewarded with proud smiles, hugs, and even happy tears!
This pilot project to provide new shoes near the end of the school year should alleviate a cost to the families for replacing shoes the children have outgrown during the school year. Assistance League of San Antonio is reviewing potential future projects for Operation School Bell that will help children and their families in our community with basic and essential needs.
Student volunteers from L.E.E. High School and the district communications department provided much appreciated support to this effort!
