December is a major month for fundraising. In fact, over 30% of annual donations occur between Thanksgiving and the new year with the majority of those gifts occurring in the final three days of the year. And why is December such a popular month for giving? Many would say it is because of the tax benefits, which are definitely a factor. But we believe it is because the holidays bring out the giver in all of us.
The holidays are the season of giving; giving love and giving thanks. The holidays are also about faith, showing appreciation, and helping those in need. Assistance League chapters provide help to those in need throughout the year, but many get the special pleasure of spreading a little extra holiday cheer to children in their community.
It only takes a moment to look into a child’s eyes and see the joy the season brings. We all have childhood memories of wishing and hoping for that one special present. This holiday season Assistance League will be making those wishes come true for over 100 children in need. The giving of gifts might seem small, but making wishes come true has a lifelong impact.
This season of giving is also about how a gift can impact children throughout the year. Assistance League of Fullerton holds an annual fundraiser, “Sock It to ‘Em,” during the holiday season to raise funds for Operational School Bell®. The success of this event has allowed them to increase the number of children they clothe through the program to include over 1,450 students from 30 elementary and middle schools in their area.
How can you make a difference this season of giving? How can your gift change lives? A gift to an Assistance League chapter can impact the lives of many.
