Assistance League of Boise is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We have over 350 members that support our philanthropic programs. We serve over 20,000 individuals in Treasure Valley each year. Funding is generated from the sales in our thrift shop, located at 5825 N. Glenwood in Garden City, grants and donations from the community.
Programs
- Operation School Bell®: provides new clothing, shoes and a personal care kit to school children in need. Involvement runs from July (tagging clothing) through November. The busiest time is from the last week of August to the Friday before Thanksgiving.
- OSB Teen Retail: provides vouchers to middle/junior high and high school students in need.
- High School Closets: provides clothing to local high schools for counselors and social workers to distribute to students in crisis.
- Operation School Supplies: provides basic classroom supplies to children in need.
- Project Hearing: provides hearing aids to qualifying adults in need, and scholarships to hard of hearing students who are pursuing post-secondary college or technical training.
- History in the Bown House: docents give tours in this restored 1889 house to Boise fourth grade students.
- Cinderella’s Closet: provides prom dresses to Ada County high school students for a nominal fee.
- CARES Closet: is a partnership with St. Luke’s CARES (Children at Risk Evaluation Services). ALB provides the manpower to maintain inventory at the closet.
- Baby Bundles: provides layettes to local hospitals for families of newborns in need of assistance.
- HY Hope: provides kits with essential items as well as food and gas vouchers to Homeless Unaccompanied Youth.
- Brighter Image Wigs: provides wigs to anyone experiencing medical hair loss.
Voting, Professional, PAL, SPARK or Canyon County Branch membership is available to any individual who is willing to:
- participate in and support the philanthropic programs and fundraising activities as determined by the Boise Chapter;
- attend chapter meetings;
- have the privilege of voting and holding office and pay annual membership dues.
Individuals may also apply as Associate members. This is a non-voting classification. These members support our organization financially and may participate in programs or fund raising.
