Assistance League of Charlotte presented the Anne Banning Leadership Award to Jo Ann Parry at the annual May meeting. This honor is named after the founder of Assistance League, who promoted the growth of effective volunteerism through leadership and education. This award demonstrates the importance and value of leadership to Assistance League chapters, while also honoring the accomplishments and dedication of the recipient.
Since joining Assistance League of Charlotte in 2004, Jo Ann has been a member of the Board multiple times serving as VP of Marketing and Communications, Resource Development and Philanthropic Programs. During this same time period, she has also been a continuous contributor to the Marketing and Grants committees helping raise millions of dollars. She volunteers as an Attorney Coordinator in the Mecklenburg County Teen Court program and this past year, served on the Donor Development committee providing her graphic design skills in three very successful campaigns raising several thousand dollars.
Chapter communications have evolved during her membership from using primarily print to fully utilizing the power of the internet and social media. Jo Ann strives to effectively use technology to market Thrift Shop events, advertise the success of our philanthropic programs, and promote the image of Assistance League. She has also served on the National Assistance League leadership team developing marketing campaigns, designing logos and artwork with the goal of promoting the work of the organization on both the local and national level.
