Ada Edwards Laughlin Award

Congratulations to Nancy Bradley our 2021 recipient of the Ada Edwards Laughlin award!

The Ada Edwards Laughlin award is named after the co-founder of Assistance League who was less visible and filled the role of hardworking “behind the scenes” assistant to Anne Banning.  It is in that spirit the award should be presented.
We are proud to honor Nancy Bradley, the recipient of this very prestigious award.  Nancy
has served our chapter for 23 years.

During the first dozen years of her service, she held many leadership positions. She was appointed to chairman positions and she served on the board including the office of President.

Over the last 12 years she has dedicated herself to quietly working behind the scenes by being available almost any time to work and support our programs and thrift shop. Speaking of thrift shops, Nancy helped design the rental space when we first moved into 3600 South Tryon Street,  she worked with contractors,  did some painting and other up fitting tasks, pitching in where ever she was needed. You may not know she helped develop and introduce the color coded tags system used on all merchandise to this day.

When we decided to purchase, she served on the committee that found our new building and was instrumental in helping design our space. Currently serving to find our next location, she continues to work behind the scenes to make our Chapter strong.

On at least three days a week you can find her in our warehouse, either in our upstairs space, keeping it organized with all the off season items,  or by the donation door sorting and preparing Ladies clothes.
