The timely delivery of backpacks, filled with non-perishable food, continues to be supported by Assistance League of Charlotte (ALC) during these difficult times. In collaboration with Second Harvest Food Bank, our longest running program Operation Check Hunger, is making sure the weekly backpacks designed to supplement families weekend meals, are still going out to students in need. Charlotte Mecklenburg schools are working with the families to provide breakfast and lunch and these weekend backpacks.

Other ALC programs are also contributing to this effort.  Even though our Thrift Shop is closed and resulting revenue is down, we are committed to continuing our mission of improving the lives of children and their families in the community.  We are adjusting our budget into concrete ways to make a difference child by child.
