Volunteer Tom, an excellent, enthusiastic, and informative docent, lead the ALC members through Thompson’s Mills recalling the story of this historic place. Although on the job for only a few months, he had more than enough interesting information to continue his narrative throughout the tour. The highlight had to be the opening of the sluice gates to set the ancient wheels and turbines moving as the water rushed over them.
At the end of the tour we lunched at the tiny but excellent Grasslands Cafe in Halsey.’s
