OPERATION SCHOOL BELL
Operation School Bell® is a philanthropic program in which Assistance League of Denver partners with JCPenney in Northfield to allow all students from selected Denver Public Schools and Aurora Public Schools to receive vouchers to shop for new school clothes on a given Sunday in the fall. The store is closed to all other customers on these Sunday mornings, and JCPenney usually gives a 30% discount on the clothes that our ALD Schools students purchase on that day.
The schools that participate in Operation School Bell are selected through an application process based on a high free and reduced lunch rate as well as other factors. The ALD Schools participating in OSB in 2024-2025 are Goldrick Elementary, Munroe Elementary, and Valverde Elementary in DPS as well as Boston P-8, Crawford Elementary, and Fulton Elementary in APS. Schmitt Elementary in DPS and Elkhart Elementary in APS have chosen to have school clothes provided to their students at their school sites in lieu of a shopping experience.
