Welcome to the Assistance League Downey informational center.  We have been serving the citizens of Downey since 1953.  We started with 10 amazing women led by our first president Jane Strang who served from 1953-1955.  Today we have grown to 155 hard working members who volunteer over 19,400 hours annually and support over 4,200 individuals.  We have volunteer and membership opportunities for men and women of all ages as well as high school students.  We are a chapter of the National Assistance League that annually assists 1.4 million people, with 23,000 members and 121 chapters.  We are so proud to be a part of this organization and our efforts to support the people of Downey.
