General Statements
Any individual, corporation, business, foundation, etc., may contribute to Assistance League® of East Valley. For purposes of this policy “donation” includes monetary and in-kind donations and contributions.
Assistance League of East Valley does not copy, reproduce, publish, post, distribute, share or sell the name, personal information, or description of donation or donor to any outside individual or business. Exceptions shall be those required by law, requested in grant applications or in connection with bank credit or debit card transactions that may be made without prior knowledge or consent of the donor.
Donor Acknowledgement
Assistance League of East Valley, with permission, does acknowledge donors by name and/or description of donation in certain printed material such as chapter newsletters, brochures, press releases, event invitations or programs, stationery, solicitation letters, the organization’s website or other means of expressing appreciation for the donors’ assistance. A donor wishing to view samples of these publications may do so by contacting the chapter at the address at the end of this policy.
Assistance League of East Valley will provide a means (such as a check-off box) for both new and continuing donors to use to inform Assistance League of East Valley if they do not want their names acknowledged publicly as mentioned above. All donations shall be treated individually so that multiple donations from a single donor shall receive the same consideration as if each were the first donation received.
The authorization to release or refuse the listing of the name and/or donation amount of the donor shall be in place for the fiscal year in which the donation is received. The donor may change the decision regarding the refusal to print the donor’s name and/or amount but may not change the decision regarding publishing once the donor’s name and/or amount has been released for publication.
If a donor chooses to opt out of any acknowledgement listings in printed material, the donor’s name and address will be made available only to members and/or staff of Assistance League of East Valley who are responsible for managing the business of the corporation.
Photograph Consent
A donor’s photograph will not be used at any time or in any publication without the donor’s consent. However, an adult attending any event where photographs are taken shall imply consent. This implied consent shall apply to the name and likeness of the donor being published in the documents described in the General Statements section above as well as a description of the amount or type of contribution given to Assistance League of East Valley. Should there be a minor present, written permission is required from a parent/guardian.
A printed copy of Assistance League of East Valley’s Donor Privacy Policy will be mailed to a donor upon request and is also available on the Assistance League of East Valley website.
All records of donations to Assistance League of East Valley shall be maintained by the corporation according to the applicable standards of record retention in effect at the time of the donation. All records will be maintained in a secure location of the chapter.
