Who We Are

Assistance League of Eugene is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization comprised of multi-talented community members working together to fulfill its mission. We are dedicated to improving the lives of Lane County residents through hands-on programs.

Membership is open to those who wish to be of service to our community and have the time, creativity and passion to volunteer. The joy of giving is expressed through unique programs chosen to meet the specific needs of our community.

Prospective new members will be provided with an orientation about the organization.

We are located at 1149 Willamette Street in midtown Eugene. Our hours are Tuesday-Saturday from 12 noon-4 pm.

Membership Levels and Requirements

All members may vote and dues are $80 per year.

Active Members

Active members shall:

Attend chapter meetings as required
Be responsible for twelve (12) shifts per year at the Thrift Shop
Be an active participant on at least one committee
Participate in the Operation School Bell Program
Have the privilege of serving on the Board in any capacity or in any leacdership role

Sustaining Members

Have completed a minimum of 8 years as an active member of the chapter
Have applied for and granted this membership category by the board
Upon written request be reinstated as an active member
Have the privilege of serving in a leadership role, and may serve as an officer if reinstated as an active member
Are encouraged to volunteer to fill Thrift Shop shifts or work on shop projects; volunteer for Operation School Bell; participate on at least one committee; and attend regular monthly meetings

Supporting Members

Supporting members are encouraged to:

Attend regular monthly chapter meetings whenever possible
Volunteer in the Thrift Shop whenever possible
Participate in at least one committee when possible
Have the privilege of serving in a leadership role, but may not serve as an officer
Members in this category shall not exceed fifty percent (50%) of the total membership.

Program/Project Support Volunteer

From time-to-time ALE needs volunteers with special skills and knowledge to help complete needed tasks.
These volunteers will not be members of ALE, will not pay dues and will be working under the direction of a Committee/Program Chairman.
The current needs will be posted below and updated as needed.
If you have a special skill or expertise that you wish to volunteer, such as carpenter, architect, or others that are not listed, and you think it might be useful in the future, please fill out an application and we will keep it online for our Committee and Program Chairs for future review.
Our current needs are:
- The Marketing Communication Committee needs a Publicist who can write Press Releases, ads and articles for placement in local media.
- The Marketing Communication Committee needs someone to help develop our five-year Marketing Plan.
- The Finance Committee needs someone to help develop our five-year Business Plan.
- The Marketing Communication Committee needs someone as a back-up Website Administrator. Needs experience with WordPress, WpBakery Page Builder and Dropbox.
- The Oregon Heritage Committee needs teachers who can assist in conducting tours at the Lane County Historical Museum.
