Busy Hands became the Fresno chapter’s fifth philanthropic program in 2013. The Busy Hands program is named after a group of local seniors who create handmade items which are then donated to the Marjaree Mason Center, the Pregnancy Care Center and Valley Teen Ranch. Assistance League makes this possible by providing the seniors with the necessary materials. With the materials provided, the Busy Hands are now able to focus on doing what they enjoy.
This program is unique in the fact that it helps those making the items and those receiving them. It provides those making, with a sense of purpose and contributing to their community while doing something that they love to do. Those receiving the items get something that was lovingly handcrafted.
To date, this program has made over 3,600 handmade items that were distributed to the three centers.
