Lyne Mullen, a dedicated member of Assistance League® of Greater Placer, recently received the Ada Edwards Laughlin Award. The Award recipients are chapter members who have been a member for a significant number of years, and have given outstanding “behind the scenes” service. The award is named for the co-founder of Assistance League who was less visible and filled the role of hardworking “behind the scenes” assistant to Anne Banning.
Lyne has given her time and energies to many committees including Membership, Grants, and Angels for Aging. Most recently Lyne has guided the Chapter to an understanding of a great and grave need within the County to serve the homeless. Lyne had the background to know who could help our Chapter find just exactly how we could assist the homeless population. From taking the unsalable donations from the Thrift Shop, but perfect for the homeless, to getting to know how we could actually serve nutritious and delicious food to those struggling to get ahead, Lyne has led the Chapter to form a new philanthropic program to serve the homeless. The Reaching Out program exists as a new philanthropic program through the persistence and determination of Lyne Mullen. Congratulations Lyne, on this well-deserved Award!
