The Anne Banning Leadership Award is named after the founder of Assistance League®, who promoted the growth of effective volunteerism through leadership and education. This award demonstrates the importance and value of leadership to Assistance League chapters, while also honoring the accomplishments and dedication of the recipient. The attributes of a model recipient:
• Has served in major leadership roles, providing enthusiasm and guidance while participating in chapter programs and activities;
• Led in the creation of a new chapter program or initiative, or in the significant growth, modification, implementation or enhancement of a current chapter initiative
• Modeled personal commitment to the mission and values of the chapter;
• Represented the chapter mission and values in the community
We were proud to present this award to 23 year member, Kathleen Geary, who exemplifies all those attributes. She has served on the board as VP Education Administration, President-elect, and President, as well as served on numerous task forces. Kathleen has been the chair of Literacy Enrichment, a puppeteer and chair of Kids on the Block®, a mentor for the Competencies for Independent Living program, a facilitator for cluster meetings, helped implement the youth auxiliary, Assisteens®, served on the Bylaws committee and acted as our Parliamentarian.
