Sneakers for Military Families’ Preschoolers

Sneakers for Military Preschoolers is a community outreach program designed to provide sneakers for military dependent children ages three to five. A partnership with non-profit STEP (Support the Enlisted Project) has allowed us to identify and distribute  personal items to those families with the greatest needs. This is done through warehouse distributions held every other month for 300 families.  Colorful Velcro sneakers, Bombas socks, pajamas, jackets and books are some of the articles given out. The community awareness of our chapter has been expanded through this hands-on program.

Assisteens Auxiliary

ASSISTEENS® is an auxiliary of Assistance League® of Greater San Diego. Our Assisteens Chapter is comprised of a diverse membership, including students from various middle and high schools in 7th through 12th grades. Currently, our Assisteens Chapter has a membership of 30 students.

Members meet on a monthly basis on the 2nd Sunday of the month at our Chapter House/Thrift Shop at 108 University Avenue, San Diego. Additionally, the members sign up to volunteer at a variety of philanthropic/community service events on scheduled weekends.

The Assisteens vote on their own philanthropic projects, which are funded entirely by their fundraising efforts. By working once a year in the Assistance League Thrift Shop, profits from that day are used to fund Assisteens philanthropic projects. Additionally, by volunteering in the Thrift Shop, Assisteens learn skills to effectively work in a retail store.
