Theresa Nelson, Executive Director of the Foundation at Brunswick Community College, and Shaylene Ball, Director of Nursing at the college, attended our April meeting to thank the chapter for our support.

Nelson explained that ALGW funded 10 nursing scholarships in 2021-2022 and 24 in 2022-2023. Ball discussed the non-traditional students who receive our scholarships—frequently older, supporting families, and carrying part-time jobs in addition to going to school full-time. She revealed our scholarships help these students focus on their studies, alleviating some of the stress present in their lives.

To date, Brunswick Community College and Cape Fear Community College have received a total of $105,500 each in scholarship money.
