DONOR PRIVACY POLICY
Assistance League of Houston does not copy, reproduce, publish, distribute, share or sell the name, personal contact information or description of any donation or donor to outside individuals or businesses. Exceptions shall be those required by law, requested in grant applications or in connection with bank credit or debit card transactions that may be made without prior knowledge or consent of the donor.
Assistance League of Houston may publicly acknowledge donors by name and/or description of donation, unless the donor requests in writing that the donor does not wish to be publicly acknowledged. Donations may be acknowledged in certain printed material, such as chapter newsletters, brochures, press releases, event invitations or programs, stationery, solicitation letters, the organization’s website or other means of expressing appreciation for the donors’ assistance. A donor wishing to view samples of these publications may do so by contacting the chapter at the address below.
Assistance League of Houston provides a form for both new and continuing donors to inform the charity if they do not want their names acknowledged on any of the printed material mentioned above. All donations are treated individually for purposes of donor confidentiality.
If a donor chooses to opt out of any acknowledgement listings in printed material by signing and returning the Donor Privacy Form so stating to Assistance League of Houston within ten (10) days of receipt of the form, the donor’s name and contact information will be made available only to members of Assistance League of Houston who are responsible for managing the business of the corporation.
If Assistance League of Houston makes a reasonable effort to deliver a Donor Privacy Form to a donor and the donor fails to return a completed form to the chapter within ten (10) days after the form was mailed or personally delivered to the donor, Assistance League of Houston will assume the donor intends to allow public acknowledgement of the donation by the chapter.
All records of donations to Assistance League of Houston shall be maintained by the corporation according to the applicable standards of record retention in effect at the time of the donation. All records will be maintained in a secure location of the chapter. To contact the charity to review personal information collected and request corrections, please use the Assistance League of Houston address, phone, or email listed below.
Assistance League of Houston operates the Thrift Shop. The names of donors contributing to the Thrift Shop are never made public without the donor’s written permission.
