In 2021-2022 Operation School Bell clothed 897 students
During the 2021-2022 school year, Operation School Bell provided brand new, school-appropriate clothing and shoes to 897economically disadvantaged students in the school districts of Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach City, Huntington Beach Union High School, Ocean View, and Westminster. The budget was $102,983.
This program began in our Huntington Beach chapter in 1975. Each year we see the numbers continue to increase. Working with Target stores and JC Penney of Huntington Beach and Westminster allows us to expand our ability to offer a full selection of sizes and styles. We can accommodate working parents in the evening and children don’t have to leave school. The families meet us at Target or JC Penney on specified nights with their voucher from the school and students have the opportunity choose their own new school clothes, shoes and hygiene supplies. We know that experiencing the joy of new school clothes and shoes not only boosts their self-esteem, but also improves their chances of scholastic success.
